Coaching

I began to play volleyball when I was 10 and fell in love with the sport very quickly because of the uniqueness of the game (fast-paced team sport without contact). Although I competed at the regional, state, and national level, when I turned 18 I decided to quit to pursue higher education. Since in Brazil the only way to work with sports is having a degree in exercise science, I decided to pursue a bachelor’s in that field that would allow me to work with volleyball. In my first year in college, I started an internship with volleyball in a traditional club in my hometown. Fortunately, I had one of the best mentors in the country, a person who developed more than 30 athletes to the national team of Brazil. Thus, I developed my coaching philosophy (ACCESS HERE) based on his practical teachings, my own experiences, and most importantly science. Below is my trajectory as a coach and some tools I have developed over the years for coaching.

Work Experience

  • 2010-2013: Volleyball Coaching Internship at Santa Monica Clube de Campo => I helped the volleyball coaches during the practice and any other needed administrative task. Worked with young athletes ranging from 11 years to 17 and also with adults.
  • 2013-2018: Full-time Volleyball Coach at Santa Monica Clube de Campo (website here) => I was in charge of several volleyball teams, U14, U16, and U18 (female). Also, we had federal funding to develop the athletes, and I had to handle several administrative tasks related to that.
  • 2017 & 2018: Assistant Coach of the Parana state team (website here) => I was selected to work as the assistant coach of my state twice. We won second place at the nationals. That team was made of the top twelve athletes of the state and the national tournament gathered the selection of the top athletes of 12 states of Brazil.
  • 2018-2019: Full-time Volleyball Coach at Youth Sports Academy (website here) => I coached, as a volunteer, the U14/15 female team of YOSA in Colorado for one season.
